Dear Friends:

Greetings to our global readership from our two Churches here in Cumbria.  You will receive a very warm welcome should you visit us if you are ever in our part of the world.

Hotbird Satellite

We are happy to tell you that we have had a Hotbird Satellite receiver and dish installed in our home, so that we can see the Seventh-day Adventist Hope channel.   These programmes are on 24 hours a day seven days a week.   They are excellent programmes which include, Doug Bachelor of Amazing Facts, Mark Finley of It is Written and Lonnie Malachenco of the Voice of Prophecy.   At the moment the Evidence programmes, with Dwight Nelson are being transmitted from Newbold College via the satellite.   They were on Monday to Friday March 1st to 5th and 8th to 12th.  We have videoed all these programmes so that we can show them to you at a future date yet to be decided or you can have them on loan to view at home with your family and friends at your leisure.

They are specifically  aimed at the  unchurched secular young people.   These programmes are extremely professionally produced and I am sure they will be very helpful to the segment of our society at which they are aimed.  There are a great variety of programmes that we can video and show which will more meet the needs of our friends and family.  At the moment the proposal is to show the Evidence videos in our Carlisle Church on either alternate Wednesday nights, so that they do not conflict with Prayer Meeting, or on consecutive Wednesday nights if we feel that it can be incorporated into our Prayer Meetings.   We are planning to start at 7:30 with a drink and biscuits so that we can socialize with our visitors and make them feel at home.   Then show the video between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.   This is just a proposal which we shall discuss as a Church.  However, as our congregation is scattered you may feel that you would prefer to use them in your own homes to invite your neighbours and friends who would  not necessarily be able to travel into Carlisle

In the South Cumbria Church we have yet to decide how we are going to use these videos.  We can use the same patterns as are under suggestion for Carlisle, or we are open to your suggestions. Next page
